Too Much Jamming, Even for a Hamster

GREAT show, but too much time was free-for-all jams and solos, not part of songs, especially Set 1. Ten minutes into the show, Susan and most of the band walked off stage and then Derek, the drummers, and keyboard railed on for about 30 minutes. Those around me, who had been standing, sat down and wondered what was going on, thinking Susan might be sick. Set 2 included more songs, but with very long jams. Jams are great, but after paying $250 for floor seats (and having to stand for the entire show to be able to see) I left the show feeling a bit short-changed. This band is super talented but they could be more focused on the crowd and delivering what I imagine most people there wanted to hear. I don't need to be convinced that Derek is a great guitar player or that the others are top of their game. I'd rather enjoy their amazing talent in the context of a great song -- many of their best and most popular songs they did not play.

Tedeshi-Trucks Band

Well, everyone on the stage could hold their own with the top 10% of musicians in the world, but still, there is Me. Trucks, and then everyone else. He is that good. Susan T has pipes for days, and a very gracious stage presence, and yes, she can play! Arrangements were amazing, and the band was tight. Musicianship off of the charts all night long. The set was a very good mix of moods, but the groove train just kept chugging. My only complaint of the night is that the mix seriously needs some FREAKING BOTTOM END! The boom was AWOL. Otherwise, I would definitely go see them again. Great show, great musicians. Groove train was humming . . . what more could you ask?

Epic concert by the TTB

Everyone put on an incredible show, not just Derek & Susan!! Derek's ethereal and slurry style highlighted the show as did the monstrous sound's being put out when Susan picked up her Gibson Les Paul; my favorite guitar!!! The keyboard work and brass were mesmerizing, especially that trombone. And the backing vocal were oh so soothing while the bass and dual drum kits held down the beat in perfect fashion. The only problem we had, having paid for great seat in the orchestra section, was how the people in front on us stood up almost the entire concert. This was frustrating since we were 'forced' to stand, all but forfeiting the seats we had paid for. Sure, there are times to stand, but for those standing and only sitting after the look around and see everyone else has done so, these people need pit area were they can stand freely without effecting others. That being said, the band was great. I am one of those who saw Derek when he was 15 and has followed him since. All things considered we had a rip-roaring great time!!!!
